Sexxx is H-O-T-T!

That's right. The sex station was a HIT today. As I walked back from my Theories of Argumentation class, Maggie pointed out the crowd of people bunched by the Arch. I shrugged it off, it's Preview NU week after all, and there are tons of crowds walking around. But as we drew near to the station, it was obvious that this was no Prospie-oriented crowd, but one that was drawn to the LET'S TALK ABOUT SEX BABY station.

Speaking of prospies, a drove of them walked by in a campus tour and our very own Wayne Hsueh (AAIV) shouted, "COME VOTE ON YOUR FAVORITE SEXUAL POSITION." I must say, there were many raised eyebrows from the parents as prospective frosh quickly skittered under the Arch thinking 'awkkkwwwward.'

Mmm. Welcome to Northwestern. :) Yeah Awkward Turtle!

As the tour group continued past the Arch, they no doubt passed by Kevin Cheung (AAIV) and Nate Han (AAIV) at the Rock area with the Prayer Wall. I stopped to read some of the prayer requests that were posted--this campus is crying about many things.

Perhaps a video will be uploaded soon.

Hey, so today God is doing great things in me. I was sorta going crazy because this event is demanding my attention every .4 seconds and I entered this week really drained to begin with, but God really sat me down and encouraged me today. I was having trouble thinking all this was worth my time and whether God was really going to do anything great with it. Then I read Mark 6. Jesus and his disciples were freaking tired and hungry and they were about to go take a break--but then the people kept coming to them. GAH! But they kept going because Jesus had compassion on those people, who were like "sheep without a shepherd." Then he tells the disciples to sit the people down and break out the very little food they had. Jesus gave thanks to God for the food --- and then all 5, 000 people got fed with it, with leftovers. THIS IS A MESSAGE FOR US! When you feel tired, and like these outreach events aren't going to go very far, Jesus calls us to faith in his provision and miracles, that these little events and our efforts will be more than enough. He calls us to compassion on our campus in times of tiredness. And he reminds us to be thankful when we're tired and people seem to be asking for more of our energy than we think we have. Thanks, not annoyance with having to be there for these 5,000 people. I think the issue is the disciples were getting tired with SPENDING-- the little energy they had left, the little money they had (to buy so many people food), and Jesus performed the miracle to say, "go ahead and spend freely if I am telling you to spend, and I will make it go beyond what is needed. Like you spent the food and it kept flowing, spend your energy and all you got for these people when I say keep going and it will keep flowing." When it doesn't look like there will be enough, like these events wont go very far, you're tired as heck, but you believe Jesus is telling you to spend-- then spend freely, full of thanks for his provision, confident with faith that he can use our efforts more than enough, no matter how imperfect our planning and coordination in getting it all going. We give the little we think we got, and believe He can multiply it.

MARK 6
v31 "Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest."

32So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place. 33But many who saw them leaving recognized them and ran on foot from all the towns and got there ahead of them. 34When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things.

35By this time it was late in the day, so his disciples came to him. "This is a remote place," they said, "and it's already very late. 36Send the people away so they can go to the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat."

37But he answered, "You give them something to eat."
They said to him, "That would take eight months of a man's wages[e]! Are we to go and spend that much on bread and give it to them to eat?"

38"How many loaves do you have?" he asked. "Go and see."
When they found out, they said, "Five—and two fish."

39Then Jesus directed them to have all the people sit down in groups on the green grass. 40So they sat down in groups of hundreds and fifties. 41Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to his disciples to set before the people. He also divided the two fish among them all. 42They all ate and were satisfied, 43and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces of bread and fish. 44The number of the men who had eaten was five thousand.

It was fun doing this with Jeremiah; he was very enthusiastic about yelling out "IS SEX LIKE MORE LIKE ARM-WRESTLING OR PULLING TEETH?!" :)
