Love: Is it in you??!!

The first day of EngageNU 2008 has arrived. Anxious, excited, nervous, students from all fellowships gather into Fisk 217. The familiar lineup of emcees, announcements, and praise & worship could easily give the impression of any large group night, if not for the message from James Chambers.

"Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love."1 John 4:8

Chambers provides a preview of the weeks events. Bringing up Human Sex Trafficking, a $32 billion (U.N.) industry. The modern day slavery far worse then of any previous generation. He goes on to mention churches and Christians who profess a love for Jesus, but show none for their fellow man. People love the ideas and values of Jesus, but dislike Christians.

"Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us." Romans 5:5

So "Where is the Love?" Chambers asks. It's the whole topic of this week. We know where it's not, but where can we find this great love. Chambers, "It is in you!" and here's what it does:

• Love gives you a part in the mission.
• "...every part does its share, causes growth of the body." Ephesians 4:15-16

• Love gives you a Holy motivation to accomplish the mission.
• "...the love of Christ compels us" 2 Corinthians 5: 14-15

• Love drives out fear of the mission.
• "...love drives out fear." 1 John 4:18, 2 Timothy 1:7-8

The word "unconditional" written on a wristband will be a constant reminder to the students to share the unconditional love of Christ this week.
